For care home managers commissioning EICR or electrical installation work, City and Guilds 2391 or 2394/2395 is the minimum standard for inspection and testing.
Why this matters
An EICR from an unregistered or unqualified electrician may not be accepted by your insurer or CQC as evidence of compliance.
What to do
- 1For EICR inspection and testing, look for: City and Guilds 2391-52 or the newer 2394/2395 combination.
- 2Check the contractor is NICEIC or ECA registered.
- 3For larger installation work, look for City and Guilds 2365 Level 3 or NVQ Level 3 in Electrotechnical Technology.
- 4Verify NICEIC registration at niceic.com/find-a-contractor or ECA at eca.co.uk/find-a-contractor.
