What CQC wants to see, organised by the systems and records that matter most.
For fire safety: current FRA (signed and dated within the last year, or earlier if reviewed and confirmed current), fire safety log book (complete and up to date), staff training records (all staff, dates, topics), fire drill records (minimum two per year including one out of hours), equipment service certificates (fire alarm, emergency lighting, extinguishers, suppression system), compartmentation survey, and fire door inspection records.
For water safety: current Legionella risk assessment, written scheme, monitoring logs (sentinel flushing, temperature checks, at minimum monthly), contractor service records, any water sampling results, and records of remedial actions taken. If a TMV programme is in place, TMV service records should also be held.
Current EICR (within the recommended reinspection period), Minor Works Certificates for all remediation of C1 and C2 codes, PAT records for all portable appliances, emergency lighting service certificates, gas safety records for all appliances.
LOLER thorough examination reports for all lifting equipment, hoist and sling records, evidence of staff training in hoist operation, and records of any accidents or near-misses involving lifting equipment.
CareHomeDesk gives you compliance checklists, maintenance logs, and contractor management tools built around exactly this kind of knowledge.
