OZEV regulations require all new EV charge points on non-domestic sites to be smart-enabled and able to communicate with the grid. Care homes with visitor or staff carparks need to assess their compliance position.
Why this matters
Installing non-compliant charge points exposes operators to OZEV enforcement and can void manufacturer warranties. If you are planning an installation, the specifications changed in 2022 and again in 2024.
What to do
- 1Confirm that any planned or existing EV charge points are OZEV-compliant smart chargers capable of load management.
- 2Check whether your DNO requires a G99 or G98 application for the additional load your installer should confirm this.
- 3Ensure the installation is carried out by an OZEV-registered installer and that the completion certificate is retained.
