Why this matters
Care providers who fail to remediate damp and mould within a reasonable timescale now face enforcement risk from CQC and the HSE as well as reputational exposure. Document every report and response.
What to do
- 1Log every damp or mould report with the date received, location, and your response timescale.
- 2Ensure remediation is carried out and documented within 14 days for visible mould and 7 days for any mould affecting a resident's room.
- 3After remediation, inspect the area at 4 weeks and 12 weeks to confirm the fix is durable record both follow-up checks.
