Sling selection is one of the most common moving and handling errors in care homes. Incorrect loop length changes the hoist angle and resident posture, increasing pressure injury risk. Providing a resident-specific sling stored at the bedside, with the loop colour documented in the care plan, is a CQC-expected practice. Slings must be inspected at each use and withdrawn if seams, labels or loops show wear.
